MoneroV

Before explaining how to claim MoneroV, I’ll give a little introduction. Monero is the top cryptocurrency focused on private transactions and security. MoneroV is a hard fork (Airdrop) from the original Monero blockchain and starting at block 1564965.

The devs promise to solve the scaling problem:

MoneroV has limited supply of coins while Monero’s coin supply is infinite, and MoneroV will implement new protocols that will solve the scaling problems facing Monero and other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

How the fork works

At the specific block 1564965 (30th April 2018) a “snapshot” will be taken on the Monero blockchain, meaning that every single wallet or transactions made from the genesis block to the snapshot block will be valid and recognized. For every single Monero (XMR) the address will receive 10 MoneroV (XMV).

Let’s explain with an example:

  • I’m the owner of a private key with 10 XMR on the block 1564965
  • On the next block, I0ll be the owner of
    1. 10 XMR on the Monero Blockchain
    2. 100 XMV on the MoneroV Blockchain

The most important thing is to be the OWNER of the private key!

If you store the XMR on an exchange, you’ll not have the chance to participate the Airdrop; the exchange will take all your legitimate XMV. Maybe some exchange will distribute to users the MoneroV.. let’s wait some days for the first exchange announcements.

How to claim MoneroV

You have two alternatives to be the owner of your private keys: download the Monero GUI wallet sync the entire XMR blockchain (long time) and send your coins in this wallet from the exchange, or use the mymonero.com webapp to create a key pair and send the XMR in this wallet.

After the hardfork you’ll have your private keys working on both blockchain (Monero and MoneroV). It means that you’ll have n XMR and 10-n XMV. But remember.. only if you hold the private keys!

How can I use MoneroV

You need to wait until the MoneroV team release the wallet. Download the wallet, sync the blockchain, import your private keys (generated with Monero blockchain) and verify how many XMV you hold.

Dont’t panic and be patient, the hard fork snapshot is permanent and you can access your XMV days, months, years later!
